Giving Birth? Where? How? Why?

Baby, I am writing this cause I need to vent with you about our birthing situation.
There are not many options here in Doha. Our ideal scenario would have been to have a water birth at home. That would have been amazing! :) But, that is not a option here in this country, so we have to make the best of what we can.

Above all things, I want your dad to be present at your birth. There are many reasons why... and so we are planning on doing everything necessary to make that happen,

I am just glad your dad and I made a decision about it and we are happy about it.

Week 19: How big is Baby Bubu?

our baby's the size of a mango!

At about 6.0 inches long and weighing in at about 8.5 ounces, she's getting there!
  • Developing a protective coating over her skin, called vernix caseosa. It's greasy and white and you may see some of it at her birth.
  • Working on her five senses. Nerve cells for her sense of taste, hearing, sight and smell are developing in her brain.

AEMEO

So, I'm thinking this is the perfect song to sing to you in utero and then after you are born.

I love the lyrics.

Tú me has deletreado la palabra amor

A eme o ere ce i te o

Before I knew, but you were already here!

Before I knew you were here, we took these pictures. I was already pregnant but I didn't know. That day, I was soooooooo hungry! OMG!  These pictures were back in January. I will always be grateful to this city because it's here where you will be born. :) mua!

A beautiful day in Doha

You can see my belly here. I love that the belly is growing and I get to show off my bump. I'm a proud mama!
Today we went to the mall to look at cribs and we found one that was 70% off! we had NO CHOICE but to buy it because it was square and it was white! We'll post picture once your dad assembles it but we have to wait at least another 4 months...

--- we found a picture of the crib!

I knew I love you before I met you

Dr. Heba asked me if I sing to you and I said that not really. she told me to sing you 1 song every day so that when you arrive you will recognize that song. .. The question is what song to pick?

I used to sing this song to your dad a lot when we met. When we met face to face for the first time, I had a feeling that I had know him forever and that's why I love this song. I am thinking about singing it to you.

Here are the lyrics:

Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
and there it goes
I think I've found my best friend
I know that it might sound more than
a little crazy but I believe

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

There's just no rhyme or reason
only this sense of completion
and in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I'm searching for
I think I found my way home
I know that it might sound more than
a little crazy but I believe

A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I found you

Nursery...(cribs and more)

OK... So we are almost 5 months pregnant! can you believe that? Time is passing by fast baby and we need to get ready. Aside from the reading we want to do, we need to think about the nursery. So This week I researched on cribs. There are many that I like but none of them available here... Buuuuuuuu! We are looking for something with wheels, portbale, small and that looks modern. We will go to home center store tomorrow and after that we will make our decision about the crib.

But I'm also looking at the decoration for your nursery or at least the decoration of your space because we will spend a lot of time there with you... and since I like things that are creative, unique and original (and most important that have a meaning) I told your dad I wanted to decorate your nursery in a travel theme: Jet Set Baby. There are many ideas online and it's only appropriate since we love to travel around and now we have a travel companion.. YOU! Also, you have traveled a lot in utero: first to Dubai, then to India, then to Ecuador and then to Dubai again. You have already crossed the big, blue ocean! Go, Jet Set Baby, Go!

We also love Dr. Seuss and we love the "Oh, the places you'll go". We will somehow integrate it in the nursery decoration in a subtle way.

Nice colors for the nursery via Etsy

I love the aqua blue and the yellow! via The Decorologist

And I love the colors, sunshine yellow, robin's egg (kind of baby aqua blue) and tangerine orange.

We love maps! and love the colors of this map! via The Land Of Nod

I have already made a crochet bunting but I haven't finished it yet. :P

Oh! I want also to make everything for you: buntings, hats, baby mobile and prints that have to do with traveling and sayings about God in different religions. I am hopeful that during the summer we'll finish everything.

Love you!

Talking to Tia Connie

We called Connie to talk about what else... pregnancy, birth and motherhood. I asked her to please make a list of things we need for you and most importantly give us brands of strollers and other stuff. She made the list and we will be sending it soon.
We  told her you are -----! and she got super excited! She called Jorge so they both now know! YAY..

We saw Mila and Emmy! Emmy looks like a doll we used to have in Ecuador called cicciobello (only cuter!)

Here are some pictures of them while chatting with them.
Jorge and Connie while we are telling them if you are a boy or a girl!

Ultrasound at 18 weeks!

Baby Bubu,

I am so happy when we see you. OH! Makes mom and dad teary eyed. We love you. Our doctor is so nice and sweet. She was the first doctor that saw us after we found out we are expecting you and she remembered us. She said that now I look like a mom and was happy to see that the belly is growing well.

Then we did the ultrasound. She asked if we wanted to know and as you already know your dad and I have different opinions on the matter. I want to know so I can communicate with you better. So I said, yes and to my surprise your dad said yes also! ha!

So we saw you on the scan and we saw all your little fingers, your little head and how you are moving and swimming. She said your growth is perfect and you look healthy because you are moving around and flexing your legs. You swim and swim and switch positions around and we just love seeing you. You sucked your thumb.

Then the doctor told us... she said we are having a -------. We are not sure if we want to share yet so we will keep it a secret for now.

:)

Good night sweet angel.

Thank God for Angels

Dear Baby,

It seems that mom is OK, but at times I do feel down. My mom's passing and everything that we went through in Ecuador appears to be a dream. Can you believe she's been gone for more than a month? It's hard. I feel sad at times and I can't help it. It's worse to keep it inside and not cry that to just let it out... So, for your well-being and mine I have chosen the latter.

My good friend, breathworker Benicio has helped me a lot through this hard times, I know that during the hard moments in Ecuador he was praying for us. And we recently had a Breathwork session with him and it was so liberating to be able to say what I had to say and not hear bullshit (but well-meaning) advice of how to feel better. Everyone has some kind of advice to give me and you know what I have realized... I need no advice, what I need is for people to listen in silent.

No one knows what I have been through. It was tough (and still is).

I read yesterday from someone who recently lost their grandmother that they wish heaven had a phone... I wish so too.

I miss my mom a lot. Especially now cause I wish I could share these amazing moments with her. But at the same time I look at everything on the positive side and know that all I need right now is your Dad: Reuben.

We keep telling you this sadness has nothing to do with you and keep reminding you you are innocent, perfect and safe.

I love you,

Mom.

Week 18: How big is Baby Bubu?

Our baby's the size of a sweet potato!

What the heck is baby doing in there at 18 weeks? A lot! He’s working his muscles and practicing all kinds of moves. (Can you feel them yet?)

She's about 5.6 inches long and about 6.7 ounces now and she keeps on growing rapidly. (That's why you're probably feeling so hungry.)
  • Can you believe she's yawning, hiccuping, sucking and swallowing?
  • And she's twisting, rolling, punching and kicking, too -- and she's big enough that you might be able to feel her doing it!
